Awards & Achievements

Jefferson Elementary is an award-winning school in the heart of Little Rock that consistently places among the top-rated schools in the district. 

Since 2013, Jefferson has consistently been one of a handful of Little Rock schools receivng a bonus from the Arkansas Department of Education for being in the top 10% in academics in the state. 

Jefferson has received a GOLD award from Little Rock Family Magazine, earning "top public elementary school" by readers of the publication.  
 
Teachers at Jefferson have received many awards for excellence:

  • VIPS "Educator of the Year"
  • Lions Club "Teacher Recognition Award"
  • Arkansas Association of Instructional Media "Library Media Specialist of the Year"
  • Arkansas "Counselor of the Year"

67% of the Jefferson staff has Master's Degrees with an average of 16 years teaching experience. Our K-4 classroom teachers have received K-4 Crusades training to strengthen teaching skills in math, science, and reading. Eight teachers have received National Board Certification.

Jefferson Elementary was a runner-up to Central High in the "Best of Central Arkansas" survey for public schools. Jefferson was designated as a "Blue Ribbon School" by the Arkansas Department of Education, and received the "Elementary School Award of Excellence."
 
Jefferson Elementary is the only school in Arkansas to win the state "Outstanding PTA Award" for two consecutive years in 1999 and 2000.
